Student Residences For OCADu

The big idea for this student residence project can be described as “identity through community involvement”. Identity through community involvement for a student residence can be described as a place where students can relate with one another through events or just living with others in general. When designing, every student has an identity or even when they attend class. Each student has a set of characteristics and behaviours that make him or her unique in which can affect their academic achievement. When designing, each student has their own techniques of designing, which makes it harder for them to be distinguished as that one person who designs “this”. For this student residence concept, I wish to achieve a place where students can identify themselves through community involvement. Students are given an opportunity to come to a social environment where they can distinguish themselves from other design or art students through community programs. An ideal location for this student residence is 35 McCaul St. Toronto, Ontario. The chosen site is an ideal location since it is a walk able and biking distance from OCADU’s main campus.
